Two courts between beach and ocean

Two blue rectangles, palm trees and ocean all around. The CROSSROADS Maldives photograph places the courts beside the water, on a strip of land on Eh’mafushi island. A few metres away, the beach and resort buildings complete the landscape. Here, at SAii Lagoon Maldives in South Malé Atoll, the CUPRA FIP Tour makes its first stop in the country.

CROSSROADS brings together SAii Lagoon, Hard Rock Hotel Maldives, SO/ Maldives and a marina. This week, the holiday offering includes an event with its own schedule, players and final: the FIP Silver Women’s Padel CROSSROADS Maldives.

The first stop is a women’s event

For its arrival in the Maldives, the circuit features a women’s tournament. Nuria Rodríguez and Marta Talaván are one of the pairs announced. Martina Minetti and Rosie Pooley also take part in the week’s programme, with sessions offered to amateur players.

This first gives women’s padel a particular place in the story of the venue. Courts normally offered to holidaymakers host an international circuit event. The recreational setting is also a competition venue, with professionals whom the programme invites visitors to watch and join on court.

A week shaped by the game

Asia Padel Events organises the event with CROSSROADS. The FIP technical schedule lists qualifying from 2 November and the main draw from 4 November. The resort’s communication highlights 5–8 November, ending with Sunday’s final. The prize fund is €9,000.

Training sessions and time spent around the game also shape the week. Dinner with the professionals on 5 November is included in the masterclass programme: an opportunity to continue conversations after the session.

From courtside to training

The clinics with Rodríguez and Talaván offer four hours of practice a day across two sessions. They are advertised at $450 a day or $1,200 for four days, including dinner on 5 November. Accommodation, transfers and other meals are arranged separately.

Earlier in the week, on 2–4 November, Minetti and Pooley offer shorter formats: one hour of individual coaching at $200, or an hour of matchplay with two professionals at $400. From a padel-focused stay to a single session, several formats are offered on the same courts.

An event open beyond the hotels

The tournament also welcomes spectators. The announcement invites resort guests, Maldivian residents, expatriates and visitors. For a day visit, the CROSSROADS team provides information about access and transfers: KoimalaandMaalimi@crossroadsmaldives.com.

This invitation matters to the story. It gives people a reason to visit the destination to watch padel as well as stay there. The programme offers several ways to take part in the week: attending matches, booking a clinic or playing.

Amateurs have their own schedule too

Asia Padel Events also lists a Maldives Challenger at CROSSROADS on 6–8 November. This amateur event accompanies the women’s FIP Silver. The programme therefore gives amateur players their own competition during the same weekend.

The two GZ19 courts also have a life beyond tournaments. CROSSROADS offers lessons, group sessions and friendly matches, with normal opening hours of 7am to 11pm. Its 2026 membership programme includes a Basic package at $80 a month for one member and a partner, before service charges and taxes.

Another reason to visit the Maldives

The cultural step lies in the new place given to the game within a holiday. The Maldives is hosting this circuit for the first time, with a women’s event leading the way. Around the tournament, the programme combines training, amateur competition and opportunities to meet professional players.

At CROSSROADS, the ocean remains the backdrop. But the week can also be planned around a match to watch, a booked session or a tournament to enter. That is the story of this first FIP Silver: a holiday destination now hosting a date on padel’s international calendar.
