Four stops to establish a recurring event
Hexagon World Series has announced four events for 2027 and eight teams, with seven revealed. Madrid will open the season and Abu Dhabi will stage the finale. North America and Scandinavia complete the calendar; their host cities remained unannounced on 22 October.
A season asks something different of the spectator. There must be a reason to return after the first weekend. Team identity can provide that thread: a name stays familiar while locations and match-ups change.
Personalities offer an entry point
Eva Longoria, Pierre Gasly, Andy Murray and Sergio Agüero are among the personalities associated with the announced franchises. Their names can make the project legible to people who do not yet know professional padel players.
That presence does not guarantee lasting attachment. A team needs a voice, images, stories and an ongoing relationship with supporters if it is to exist beyond its owner. Content work becomes as important as the initial announcement.
The work of continuity
A franchise can offer several forms of identification. Someone might arrive through a personality, stay for a player, recognise a kit or follow the group’s off-court life. Those entry points can coexist without requiring newcomers to understand the entire professional circuit immediately.
For brands, continuity offers a more defined setting than a single appearance beside a court. It makes longer-term content and product ideas possible. That is a commercial opportunity, rather than demonstrated evidence of loyalty or investment returns.
The format conveys an intention
The organiser has also announced matches played in super tie-breaks. The choice signals an interest in shorter sequences that are easier to follow; the audience’s response remains to be seen. A press release cannot establish how understandable a viewing product will be.
The telling question in 2027 will be how teams live between stops: what they publish, how women and men are represented, and how new audiences are welcomed. The calendar supplies the structure. The story still has to be made.
A team gives the audience a name to follow between events.
